How do I fix a video player error code?Updated 18 days ago

Depending on the error code you receive, we recommend different steps to try to resolve the issue.

Please see the section corresponding to the error code you received.

Error code: 10040 or 281200

This may be due to a recent build update to the Beacon app. To resolve the error, try the following steps.

  1. Go to your device's Settings
  2. Clear cache for Pocket Beacon
    • For Apple devices, go to: General > iPhone/iPad Storage > Pocket Beacon > Delete App
    • For Android devices, go to: Apps > See All > Pocket Beacon > Storage and cache > Clear cache
  3. Uninstall the Pocket Beacon, if the above step didn't take care of that already
  4. Install the Pocket Beacon again (for Apple or Android) to get the most recent version

Error code: 102630 or -6

You may encounter this error if your router or internet provider is blocking our website. Even if you exclusively use the Pocket Beacon app, we recommend trying some of the steps below.

  • Go to your router/network settings, and add beacon.tv to your safelist, or list of allowed websites
  • Contact your router/network provider and request that they safelist beacon.tv
  • Temporarily disable the security settings on your router
  • Use an alternative router or network, if one is available to you
  • If using a device that is capable of it, connect using cellular data instead of wifi

Error code: 232011

This error may be caused by many factors, including:

  1. Network Issues: Poor to low wi-fi internet connections or limited bandwidth can result in screen buffering and video playback delays. When accessing higher-quality videos may require more bandwidth, so if your connection is not sturdy enough, it may struggle to stream the particular video content smoothly and can throw you the error message.
  2. Piled up Browser Storage: Having not cleared your cache, cookies, and temporary files in your web browser for a long period of time can can cause conflicts and hinder video playback. When the browser storage becomes overloaded, it can lead to receiving the error.
  3. Incompatible Extensions: Certain browser extensions or add-ons can conflict with the video player's functionality, causing disruptions in video playback and potentially leading to the error code.
  4. Outdated Codecs or Software: Codecs are essential for encoding and decoding video and audio formats, allowing your system to interpret and play multimedia content may cause the error code.
  5. Outdated Browser Versions: Using outdated web browser versions can result in compatibility issues when playing videos, causing the video error code to appear.

Apart from the causes above, sometimes a firewall or security software installed on your computer or other server-side issues can prevent the video from being streamed correctly, resulting in the error code.

As such, there are many potential ways that may work as a resolution. We recommend you try as many as are possible for you until something works.

  • One of the first steps you can take is by clearing the accumulated cache and cookies in your web browser. Clearing them can help refresh browser settings and remove stored data that may be causing conflicts with your video playback.
  • Playing your desired video in Incognito mode disables most extensions and prevents the browser from using cached data, which can help resolve video playback issues related to conflicting plugins or stored data.
  • We don't think that should necessarily be a permanent solution to playing the video in incognito mode and we would also ask you to consider disabling or removing browser extensions to improve video playback.
  • We suggest disabling hardware accelerators that allows browsers to utilize your computer's hardware resources for better performance. However, we have found in some cases, it can cause conflicts with video playback, leading to Error Code 232011.
  • Outdated browser versions may lack the necessary updates and bug fixes, resulting in compatibility issues with video playback. Make sure you are running the most updated browser to the latest version and try again.

Error Code: 224003

  • This is an error we have found specifically to affect Safari users trying to access Beacon. Unfortunately Beacon is not compatible with their platform and suggest using a different browser or download the app to be able to view your content without issues.

Error Code: 233001

  • This is an issue that could be related to your Internet Network: Poor to low wi-fi internet connections or limited bandwidth can result in screen buffering and video playback delays. When accessing higher-quality videos may require more bandwidth, so if your connection is not sturdy enough, it may struggle to stream the particular video content smoothly and can throw you the error message.
  • Check with your internet provider to find out more about what can be done to work on finding a more stable connection.
  • The other option is to download the app directly which should clear up this issue.

If the issues persist or you receive an error code not listed here, please contact us and make sure to describe the steps you took leading up to receiving the error (the more detail, the better).
